IP MPLS
MPLS (Multi-Protocol Label Switching) technology blends privacy and QoS (Quality of Service) with the known flexibility and scalability of IP.
IP technology enables voice, data or Internet applications support based on different Quality of Service parameters.
Thus, MPLS is a standard for deploying IP VPNs, the full mesh characteristic inherent to IP MPLS VPNs is paramount to all applications running on a distributed architecture, such as a costumer multi-site communication network.
MPLS is a connectionless protocol, allowing direct connectivity of each site to every other VPN site, without additional provisioning or VPN security issues.
One of the greatest advantages of this technology is to avoid unnecessary bandwidth usage in a central node interconnection as all sites constituting the VPN can exchange data and voice without passing through a central point.
Oni Communications was the first Portuguese telecommunications provider to have its MPLS service recognized by Cisco as a CPN (Cisco Powered Network). |
