VPN Frame Relay

The VPN Frame Relay enables communication between different premises of the same company, permitting the interconnection of LANs, computer systems and the Customer's telephone exchanges, using PVCs (Permanent Virtual Circuits – permanent point-to-point virtual channels). Access is carried out through digital circuits which connect the Customer's premises to the Oni Communications network. The CIR and EIR parameters are defined in the network.

CIR (Committed Information Rate) – represents the bandwidth contracted to transport the data.
EIR (Exceeded Information Rate) – represents the excess bandwidth which may be used by the Customer, should there be availability in the network.

Characteristics

The Frame Relay is a protocol designed and optimised for the transport of information between local networks. This is a protocol supported by highly reliable digital circuits, which, due to its characteristic of automated management of bandwidth, is an effective technology for the secure transmission of voice and data.
